Tell Congress to Support Protections for our Untouched Roadless Areas
Our last remaining pristine roadless areas are America's playground and offer some of the most amazing recreation destinations in the country. These national forest lands are good for business and need protection from commercial interests such as mining, logging and road-building. A study by the Outdoor Industry Association estimates that outdoor business and recreation contribute $730 billion to U.S. economy every year.
Recently, legislation has been introduced in both houses of Congress that would protect 58.5 million acres of wild roadless areas. By signing the letter below, you'll send a strong message to Congress that outdoor businesses value roadless areas not only for their economic livelihood but also their unparalleled recreation opportunities.
Please sign your business on today! A copy of this letter will be sent to all Senators, and a similar letter to House members.

Subject: Support the Roadless Area Conservation Act of 2007
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
Dear Senators:
As members of America's recreation-based business community, we write to you today to convey our strong support of the Roadless Area Conservation Act of 2007 (S. 1478). This bill will positively impact our nation's natural resources and economy, our citizens' outdoor experience and ultimately, our industry's financial health. Because of the importance of national forest roadless areas to our nation, we ask your support of this vital piece of legislation.
The Roadless Area Conservation Act of 2007 would safeguard unspoiled roadless wildlands from logging, road building, and development, while allowing for common-sense exceptions to fight forest fires, ensure public health and safety, and provide access to private property.
National forest roadless areas are a central component of a public land system that provides important outdoor recreation opportunities to millions of Americans. Outdoor enthusiasts spend countless hours utilizing and enjoying their national forests, pumping over $700 billion dollars into the nation's economy and $88 billion in annual state and national tax revenue. As manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers of hundreds of outdoor recreation products, we depend upon our customers' continued participation in recreational activities such as hiking, paddling, mountain biking, backcountry skiing and snowshoeing, all types of climbing, as well as the very first American outdoor recreational pursuits -- camping hunting and fishing, all of which occur in roadless wildlands. While we represent different companies who sell to a wide range of markets, from local to global, we unite in our support for the Roadless Area Conservation Act of 2007.
America's remaining roadless wildlands are natural treasures that should be protected and passed down to future generations so that they, too, may enjoy the tremendous benefits these spectacular areas provide. Continuing to preserve these special lands is in the best interest of this great nation. Therefore, we respectfully request that you support the Roadless Area Conservation Act of 2007 and also consider co-sponsoring this vitally important piece of legislation. Thank you for your time and attention to this important conservation and economic issue.
