The short explanation of this alert was:

The state legislative session began two months ago and we need to let our lawmakers know that the environmental community’s priority Super Bills are important to New Yorkers. With so much up in the air right now, these bills have not yet been introduced in either the Assembly or the Senate.

It’s time to ask our lawmakers to move the Super Bills and show they are committed to protecting New York’s environment.

The Super Bills include the ‘opt-in’ Community Preservation Act, the Clean Water Protection / Flood Prevention Act (AKA the wetlands bill), and the Bigger Better Bottle Bill.

This year, it’s especially important for lawmakers to support the Bigger Better Bottle Bill, because Governor Spitzer has already said publicly that any increase in the Environmental Protection Fund will be tied to new revenues tied to expanding New York’s most successful recycling program.

Tell your lawmakers that you support the Super Bills and they should, too.
