We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Environmental Law and Policy Center.

The short explanation of this alert was:

The Forest Service is proposing too much logging, too fast, and in too many of the wrong places when it comes to protecting wildlife habitat and at-risk species, clean water and biodiversity.

Please act now to urge Regional Forester Kent Connaughton to reconsider the Cayuga Project, which is between Mellen and Clam Lake, Wisconsin and includes 5,200 acres of logging on National Forest land.  The Forest Service is proposing a new timber sale of more than 12,000 acres called, "Twin Ghost," directly adjacent to the Cayuga Project without considering the impact of the combined logging.

Please ask Mr. Connaughton to withdraw and reconsider the Forest Service’s plan to go forward with the Cayuga timber sale until the Forest Service fully reviews the combined impacts of the Cayuga timber sale and the adjacent new Twin Ghost timber sale and adjacent Twentymile, as well as other timber sales in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest
