New York State has decided to auction off carbon dioxide pollution credits to power plants. Power plants must buy these credits in order to release carbon dioxide into our air.

Tell your Senator that you want the money generated from these auctions to go to help protect consumers and our environment.

The proceeds from the sale of pollution credits should be used to support programs that help stabilize and reduce energy demand, develop clean renewable sources of energy and new sources of generation.

Right now, two bills in the state legislature would dedicate the money generated to increase energy efficiency and clean energy in New York State. The bills have already passed the Assembly, but still need to be voted on in the Senate.
