Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Environmental Advocates of New York. The short explanation of this alert was: The New York State Departments of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and Parks and Recreation recently released a draft Comprehensive Snowmobile Plan for the Adirondack Park and are taking public comments until March 31, 2004. Environmental Advocates of New York (EANY) and most Adirondack Preservation groups strongly oppose this plan. Wilderness advocates fear it will fundamentally change the character of the Adirondack Forest Preserve by altering the traditional balance between motorized uses and natural resource protection. Tell DEC that snowmobile trails should have the character of hiking trails and that this is not what the framers of the "forever wild" clause of the state constitution intended.
