The short explanation of this alert was:
Many antibiotics no longer fight bacterial infections they once cured easily. Overuse of antibiotics in farm animals helps lead to dangerous levels of antibiotic resistance in bacteria. Health officials are particularly concerned about use of Cipro-like antibiotics in treating poultry.

Some companies are responding! McDonalds has stopped buying chicken products treated with Cipro-like antibiotics, while Perdue has eliminated all use of these drugs in the poultry they raise. But why has Bayer Corporation refused to stop selling these antibiotics for use in poultry? Ask Helge Wehmeier, President and CEO of Bayer, to comply with a proposed FDA ban on the use of these drugs in poultry.
