Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Inactive - Center for Biological Diversity - Biodiversity Activist. The short explanation of this alert was:
In response to a petition by the Center for Biological Diversity and our partners, the National Marine Fisheries Service has proposed to list the Cook Inlet beluga whale as an endangered species. This unique population of beluga whales lives in the increasingly industrialized waters near Anchorage, Alaska and has declined from 1,300 whales in the 1980s to fewer than 300 today. Please let the Bush administration know that you support the proposal to list the Cook Inlet beluga whale under the Endangered Species Act and that we must reduce pollution and disturbance from oil and gas and other industrial development in Cook Inlet to save the whale from extinction.
