We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Sierra Club New Jersey Chapter.

The short explanation of this alert was:

This fall the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) will make a decision on PSE&G's application to expand the Susquehanna-Roseland Transmission Line and bring dirty coal power into New Jersey.

Will the board account for the decline in demand and the existing laws which encourage energy efficiency and clean energy development, or will they fall to pressure from PSE&G and others looking for the cheapest possible prices?

The Sierra Club knows two things: we do not need this transmission line and that this line won't really be cheap. Pennsylvania's coal plants are the source for 1/3 of New Jersey's air pollutants. This line will cost us sick days, healthy lungs, and contaminate our drinking water. It will cost us open space in New Jersey and exacerbate the effects of global warming.

Please take a moment to send your comments to BPU on PSE&G's proposal for the Susquehanna-Roseland Transmission line. The deadline is September 15! We appreciate your participation.
