The short explanation of this alert was:
The proposal for a floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) industrial facility in the middle of Long Island Sound, threatens our safety, our environment, and our quality of life. The complex will span more than a quarter-mile long, rise 8-10 stories above water, and be visible for miles – turning our precious public waters into an industrial zone owned by multinational, foreign-owned oil companies.
· The Broadwater terminal will endanger our environment, negating years of efforts and investments to restore the Sound.
· Broadwater will risk our health and safety, placing a dangerous industrial site and potential terrorist target amid boaters and near population centers.
· And, Broadwater will close miles of a public waterway and recreation area for the sole benefit of a private, profit-making venture.
