The short explanation of this alert was:

Because of the overwhelming number of emails and faxes being sent to New York State lawmakers this week, we encourage you to call your State Senator directly. Please call (518) 455-2800 and ask for your Senator's office.

Global warming may be a "global" problem, but New York has a role to play, too. New York State can make big cuts in the pollution that is changing our climate.

Ask your NYS Senator to tell the Senate Rules Committee to move the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Control Act to the floor for a vote before the end of the 2008 Legislative Session.

The Greenhouse Gas Pollution Control Act would cap our emissions from all sources--cars, factories, homes, buildings, and more--to avoid the worst effects of climate change.

The Assembly has passed a nearly identical measure, the Global Warming Pollution Cap. Now it's up to the Senate to act.

Ask your State Senator to call on the all-powerful Rules Committee to move the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Control Act to the Senate floor for a fair up or down vote.

Visit www.eany.org to learn more about New York's efforts to reduce climate change pollution.
