Tell your Senators, "No More Delay for the Clean Energy Economy."
Yesterday, Senator Murkowski of Alaska filed a disapproval resolution aimed at delaying congressional action on climate legislation and compromising the ability of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to reduce harmful global warming pollution.
In 2007, the Supreme Court held that carbon pollution can be regulated under the Clean Air Act and directed the EPA to undertake the work necessary to control those emissions. This decision has already been used by President Obama to increase fuel efficiency standards and begin the process to regulate large carbon pollution emitters.
Take action now: Changes to the Clean Air Act will hurt clean energy development.
The United States pioneered clean energy technologies - but we have fallen behind other nations in actually manufacturing and utilizing these tools. Experts estimate that in the near future, clean energy could be a $1 trillion annual marketplace. Reducing carbon pollution in the U.S., while increasing manufacturing, will require clean energy investment, research and deployment.
National clean energy and climate policy is needed to spur innovation and grow our clean energy economy.
Unless you take action now, the future of the clean energy economy is in danger. As Congress continues to debate climate change and energy legislation, the Clean Air Act gives the EPA immediate solutions for controlling greenhouse gases and supporting clean energy sources.
Write your Senators today and tell them to support the clean energy economy by urging your Senator to vote no on Murkowski's resolution.
