Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Students for a Free Tibet's Online Action Center. The short explanation of this alert was: Hillary Clinton is in Asia this week on her first trip abroad as Secretary of State, and will be in China from February 20th-22nd. Her meetings will set the tone for the Obama Administration's relationship with China over the next four years, so it is essential that Tibet be prominent on the agenda. For the past ten months, Tibetans have faced the tightest security and worst repression in decades, and the situation is further deteriorating as Tibetan New Year and the 50th anniversary of the 1959 Tibetan Uprising approach. Just days ago, hundreds of Tibetans took part in protests in Lithang, eastern Tibet and 24 protestors were beaten and detained. The entire area is now under military lockdown and Chinese forces have been ordered to 'crush' any signs of dissent across Tibet. Send this letter c/o the Office of the Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues and tell Secretary Clinton that change for Tibet is a priority for the American people and must be high on her agenda when she meets with Chinese leaders.
