We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Surfrider Foundation Action Network.

The short explanation of this alert was:
Goleta Beach County Park in Santa Barbara has a long history of natural shoreline erosion. Unfortunately, the County is currently applying to the Coastal Commission to install a 500-foot long pile groin structure attached to Goleta Pier in order to trap sand and widen Goleta Beach. By trapping sand at Goleta, this massive structure will rob down-coast beaches of sand, threatening wildlife habitat and will lead to narrower beaches and eroding bluffs. Please take a moment to send a letter asking that other alternatives be taken.
