We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Students for a Free Tibet's Online Action Center.

The short explanation of this alert was:

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is set to make his first official visit to China from December 2nd-6th. His visit and meeting with President Hu Jintao presents a strategic opportunity to take concrete action on Tibet.

In November 2006, Prime Minister Harper was quoted as saying he wouldn't "sell out" on human rights to promote trade and investment with China.

Please send a letter urging Prime Minister Harper to speak out for Tibet during his trip to China.  We also encourage you to send a letter and call your local MP insisting they urge the Prime Minister to stand up for Tibet during his visit to China. To see a sample letter and to find the contact information for your MP, please click here!
