Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Inactive - Population Connection Email Action Network. The short explanation of this alert was: On June 7, the House Appropriation Labor, Health, and Human Services Sub-Committee approved a funding increase of $27.8 million to President Bush’s Community Based Abstinence Education (CBAE) program—for a total of $141 million. This move is stunning. Even the Republican majority of the past two years refused to increase funds for this program. And it comes just weeks after the release of the latest in a long line of evaluations showing that abstinence-only programs simply don’t work. Indeed, mountains of evidence show that these programs are inaccurate, incomplete and ineffective. Please take just a moment to send a message to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, and Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, David Obey to express your outrage and disappointment over this outrageous funding increase.
