Legislature debating efficiency and renewables - Send a Letter to the Editor

Iowa's elected officials can play an important part in reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, as well as boost our economy, by enacting laws to reduce our energy usage and create more 'green energy' from wind and other sources.

Now is our chance to get their attention. There is legislation being debated at the Capitol that would help reduce our energy consumption by setting efficiency goals, as well as encourage more renewable energy.

Most importantly, we need to:
- Set a minimum energy efficiency standard of 1.5% a year
- Set a standard of 25% renewable electricity production by 2025

These are steps in the right direction, but we need your help - it's time to make your voice heard. Tell your local media that Iowa needs to support legislation that will reduce global warming emissions by increasing energy efficiency and promoting the use of clean, renewable energy!
