Global warming is already affecting Tennessee and its state song birds. Global warming threatens our health, our economic well-being, our environment, and the natural habitats of our wildlife.

Science tells us we can stop the worst impacts of global warming if the biggest polluters, including the U.S., cut pollution 80 percent by 2050. We have the ingenuity and the technology to meet this challenge. By starting now, we can lead the world in clean alternative energy such as wind and solar, create new clean-energy jobs in Tennessee, and pass on to our kids a world much safer from global warming.

This year, the Obama administration and new Congress must take bold action to protect Tennesseans by cutting global warming pollution while we still can. We can't afford to punt this problem to our children and grandchildren. The sooner we get started, the more affordable and more effective our actions will be.
