Resolution Copper (a joint partnership between two giant foreign mining companies) wants to mine copper beneath Oak Flat Campground, near Superior, Arizona.

However, Oak Flat was withdrawn from mining in the 1955 by President Eisenhower because of its recreational values.  Resolution Copper is trying to get Congress to give away Oak Flat to the company in exchange for other land.  Senator John McCain may introduce a bill to this effect as early as March 15.

Please ACT NOW to tell Senator McCain that this land exchange is a bad idea.  Please send the following letter and TAKE ACTION!

Thousands continue to enjoy this remarkable oasis each year. Oak Flat is a nationally-famous rock climbing site, and the nearby narrows of Devils Canyon is one of the region’s few river recreation areas.  The Audubon Society ranks Oak Flat as one of its top three birding locations in the Arizona, and off-road enthusiasts use the area as do local hunting and Boy Scout groups.  Native communities continue to use the area for traditional purposes such as gathering acorns and pine nuts.
