The short explanation of this alert was:

Now more than ever your help is needed to protect wilderness in the California desert.  In an astoundingly arrogant move, San Diego Gas and Electric has proposed construction of a massive new electricity transmission line through the heart of California's largest state park, Anza-Borrego, and designated wilderness.  The Sunrise Powerlink project would slice through some of the most pristine desert land in the state, harming endangered species; mar miles of sublime desert views; drown silence with an irksome electric buzz; trash cultural sites; and bisect popular recreation areas.

Please plan to attend a February 8th meeting of the California State Park and Recreation Commission and write a letter urging the Commission to uphold the sanctity of the state park system and oppose construction of the Sunrise Powerlink transmission line project.

Meeting of the California Park and Recreation Commission on the Sunrise Powerlink:
February 8th, 7pm
Borrego Springs Resort, De Anza Ballroom
1112 Tilting T Drive
Borrego Springs, CA
