The short explanation of this alert was:

Yesterday, the Illinois House Mass Transit Committee approved Senate Bill 572 – the transit funding and reform bill – allowing the Chicago region to increase mass transit funding and to create significant reforms.

Public transit is a vital resource for the Chicago region.  Currently the CTA, Metra, and Pace are threatening to make huge service and staffing cuts due to funding shortfalls.  Cuts that will equate to lost jobs and more traffic and pollution to our regional economy.

Tell the Governor and your State Legislators to support public transit.  The House will vote on the measure on Tuesday, September 4, 2007.

Don’t wait—contact your legislators today!
