China: Stop the Executions!

On April 8th, China sentenced two Tibetans, Lobsang Gyaltsen and Loyak, to death for allegedly starting "fatal fires" during last year's protests in Lhasa. Two others, Phuntsok and Kangtsuk, were also sentenced to death with a two year reprieve, and Dawa Sangpo was sentenced to life imprisonment. Click here to read more.

On April 21, Penkyi. a 21-year old Tibetan woman was sentenced to death with a two year reprieve also for allegedly setting fires resulting in the death of a shop owner. Two other Tibetan woman in their early twenties also received lengthly prison terms. Click here to read more.

These convictions are part of China's violent and widespread campaign to punish and intimidate Tibetans A recent report by Human Rights Watch concluded that in the past year the judicial process in Tibet has been "so highly politicized as to preclude any possibility of protesters being judged fairly". Without a reprieve, Lobsang Gyaltsen and Loyak could be executed at any time. Please take immediate action to help save their lives.

Take Action to Stop the Executions:

1) Watch and spread a video appeal by former Tibetan political prisoner, Ngawang Sangdrol, to stop the executions.

2) Contact your elected representatives and urge them to raise these cases. Download a sample letter.

3) Download a petition to China's Minister of Justice, Wu Aiying.

4) Submit an online appeal to China's Supreme People's Court condemning these sentences and calling for an immediate stay of execution.
