Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Surfrider Foundation Action Network. The short explanation of this alert was: The US Army Corps of Engineers is proposing a 350 to 600-foot rip-rap revetment (seawall) at the base of the North Tillamook Jetty at a surf break called Barview. It's one of the few breaks with south wind protection on the entire coast. There are two existing public beach accesses which are within the same footprint as the proposed revetment. The revetment will eliminate these accesses, the only for this area. There are no concessions to reconstruct these accesses north of the proposed revetment following construction. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is currently reviewing the revetment to determine if it is compliant with shoreline management standards. There will be a public hearing for this seawall on Tuesday, August 17th at 7:00 PM at Garibaldi City Hall. This public hearing is important, as it can determine the fate of the proposed project and the Barview wave. If you can’t attend the public hearing, please send an email to OPRD and tell them that you don’t want to see one of our best surf spots destroyed.
