'Heading for Extinction' - Derby Talk and Social with Mia Bains

Start: Wednesday, March 16, 2022 6:00 PM

End: Wednesday, March 16, 2022 9:00 PM

Local science communicator and experienced activist Mia Bains will be giving the Extinction Rebellion (XR) 'Heading for Extinction' talk in Derby. This is the talk that started the XR movement across the globe (and as given by the likes of George Monbiot and Gail Bradbrook).

We'll explain the science of the climate and ecological emergency to understand the enormity of the situation we are facing. Then we will introduce Extinction Rebellion's approach to bringing about the change we need.

This talk is a recommended introduction to the most pressing issue facing every human on the planet.

Join us at 6pm for a pre-talk social (potluck - there will be plant-based food and drinks!).

Alternatively turn up for a prompt 7pm start for the talk.

Everyone is welcome - we would like to see new faces and old, from experienced rebels to people not sure this is for them. It will be a friendly and welcoming event. Please bring along friends, family and colleagues. If you can, let us know on the form under 'additional guests' - but no worries if you bring guests at the last minute!

There will be time afterwards to chat and ask questions. There will also be the chance to learn about how to join the next UK rebellion starting on 9th April.
