How do we fairly transition RI's buildings away from fossil fuels?

This is the question we're helping to answer together with a research group at Brown University. Their goal is to price the just transition for Rhode Island's buildings, so our state can create fair, equitable public policy that meets our climate and clean energy goals goals and meets the moment of accelerating and increasingly violent climate crisis. And they've hired us, Rebuild Woonsocket Community Movement, to be part of this work, to make sure that the community’s hopes, concerns, and needs are centered in this ambitious project.

That's why we're excited to invite you to our Community Conversation in Newport, where we'll bring residents together to discuss their ideas about fairness in green building retrofits.

Join us on Tuesday, July 21st, 6:00-7:30pm, at 42 Spring St, Newport, RI 02840 (the unit on the corner of Barney St and Spring St), as we come together to voice our experiences and ideas, and learn from each other.

The goal of this project is to make sure that we meet our climate goals in a way that is fair and just for renters, home-owners, and workers across Rhode Island, and we need your help to do that.

Snacks will be provided, and stipends are available on a first-come, first-served basis (the first 20 folks who haven't participated in a prior PJT community conversation, who RSVP and indicate that they would like a stipend, and stay through the duration of the meeting, will receive them). The event is kid-friendly and you're welcome to bring friends. Just keep in mind that each person who would like a stipend must RSVP individually. By RSVPing, you consent to being added to a calendar invite for the event, and to photos being taken at the event and publicized by Rebuild Woonsocket Community Movement. All input you provide will be anonymized, and not attached to your name.
