Nominate Tammy Garcia For National Our Revolution Endorsement

Political research has shown that candidates who just barely eked out endorsements are presumably no better or worse politicians than those who fell just short of it, but the former got a substantially larger chunk of the primary vote than the latter. Depending on how they ran the analysis, they found an endorsement effect of somewhere between seven and 15 points.

THAT'S WHY WE ARE SEEKING A NATIONAL OUR REVOLUTION ENDORSEMENT AHEAD OF THE PRIMARIES TO IDENTIFY PROGRESSIVE CANDIDATES AND BUILD PUBLIC AWARENESS FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE, DISTRICT 37 CANDIDATE TAMMY GARCIA.

What makes TAMMY GARCIA a progressive champion? " I believe that we need a living wage in this country around $15/hr. I am not just pro-union, I am a member of the Working America Union. I have rallied with the local Teamsters to fight for the raise they were promised and deserve." "Climate change is a very real problem and we need to move away from fossil fuels.  I actively promote solar energy every chance I get and love talking to voters about it. I find it is one of the most frequent issues that arises in my district because there is a lot of misinformation in the public and the voters have a lot of questions. I love talking to voters about it, answering their questions, and following up when I don't know the answer." "While a member of the State House of Representatives cannot vote on Medicare for all, I think a single payer system is the answer. I have worked in the eye care field and insurance billing for 14 years and from that experience, I know that single payer is a better method than what we have now. Prior to the ACA, I was denied health insurance due to migraines. We cannot afford to roll back ACA regulations. It's not perfect, but we need to work on a better system while still having the ACA in place. I have written letters and called my congressman from the start of the ACA discussions and continue to."

What does TAMMY GARCIA pledge to tackle once in office? "When canvassing and speaking to voters at events, I ask what issues are important to them. I know the issues that are important to me, but without talking to the voters and knowing what is important to them, I would be no better than any of the legislators we have in this area now. My platform is based off of these issues. My three main platforms are education, environmental protections, and equality:

Education: I hear is the concern for education funding. In my district, we have 6 charter schools. While charter schools can have a place, a for-profit charter school should not receive public funds. Our education funding cannot go towards an executive and their board lining their own pockets. We must place our emphasis on students and teachers. I frequently hear our teachers are not paid enough. Pasco County loses teachers to surrounding counties that pay better and Florida loses teachers to other states that pay better. The teachers we have are fantastic and we need to do better to ensure we can keep them here. We need to make sure they are properly paid and that the classrooms have the supplies they need to teach our students. We need to increase funding to our public schools and one way is to eliminate funding to for-profit charter schools. Environment: A second issue I hear a lot of questions about is solar energy. Florida has the 3rd best potential in the US for solar energy but we don't crack the top 10 in terms of usage. A number of states are requiring energy companies to increase solar production every year until they reach a set level. This has encouraged energy companies to provide home owners with rebates for installing solar. This is legislation I plan on introducing.  Equality: I hear about our need for equality protections in Florida. We need to bring equality to all Floridians through equal pay for equal work legislation and by making the LGBT community a protected class. We also need to address the inequities in our criminal justice system so that people of color are not disproportionately criminalized with harsher sentences than white individuals for the same crimes."

"Finally, I hear complaints about Pasco County growing too rapidly without addressing our infrastructure needs. While many of these issues are addressed by the County Commissioners, I will work with them to fight for funding for projects that Pasco County needs and work on making Pasco, along with Florida at large, a place where new tech businesses will want to be."
