As reported this week by both CalMatters and the San Francisco Chronicle, Governor Gavin Newsom’s office is working with California Forever’s lobbyists in a last-minute, backroom deal to secure preferential treatment for their project.

The rumored proposed language would rewrite environmental standards, restructure annexation rules, and potentially override a voter initiative implemented by the people of Solano County. These changes open the door for the billionaire owners of more than 70,000 acres in Solano County to have virtually total control over how their land is used without public input—and they have already indicated they are considering data centers as a potential use in over 80% of developed land.

WE CAN’T LET THAT HAPPEN. We need to let Governor Newsom know we won’t accept backroom deals and giveaways to billionaires! If this legislation is good for jobs and housing in Solano County, why is it being developed in total secrecy?
