Ask Your Congressperson to Speak Out for Tibet!
To coincide with the Dalai Lama's visit to Washington, D.C., Representatives Jim McGovern and Frank Wolf have circulated a letter calling on President Obama to take substantive action for Tibet during his first presidential trip to China in November. Click here to read the letter.
As President Obama plans to meet with the Dalai Lama only after he returns from China, it is critical for the administration to hear strong messages of support for Tibet from the American people and the U.S. Congress.
Please send the letter below urging your congressperson to sign the House letter on Tibet.

Subject: Please sign Reps. McGovern and Wolf's letter on Tibet.
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
I am writing to ask that you sign the letter on Tibet circulated by Representatives Jim McGovern and Frank Wolf, co-chairs of the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission. The letter urges President Obama to take substantive action to help bring about a resolution for Tibet during his first presidential visit to China in November.
The American people have consistently demonstrated their overwhelming support for Tibet. For decades, the U.S. Congress has advanced policy and programs to promote the Tibetan people's human rights and freedoms and to protect Tibet's unique culture.
In a break with two decades of tradition, President Obama is not meeting with the Dalai Lama during his visit to Washington, D.C., but instead the President is expected to meet with the Dalai Lama only after his visit to China in November.
In light of this development, it is critical for Members of Congress to impress upon the White House the importance of Tibet as a long-standing issue of concern for the U.S in its relationship with China.
Please sign the House letter on Tibet and show your support for the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people.
I will be calling your Congressional office to follow-up on my request.
Sincerely,
