Hi there. My name is _____ I live at _______ and I’m calling to tell Speaker Heastie that we need him to call a special session THIS MONTH to pass the Build Public Renewables Act. Here in the Hudson Valley we have been facing unaffordable rate increases under Central Hudson. By passing the Build Public Renewables Act you would be helping one million low and moderate income New Yorkers save money on their utility bills. We would also be creating tens of thousands of union jobs across the state ensuring we make good on the promises of a just transition. Labor leaders testified earlier this week that the build public renewables act had the best labor language they have ever seen but were skeptical it would be passed as written. Let's do justice to workers and pass the build public renewables act AS IS!! Not passing this bill is climate denialism and will directly lead to the deaths of New Yorkers. It’s been three years since we passed major climate legislation. The time is NOW to prove we can lead on this issue and put people over profits!
