$2000 Past Due to The People Campaign: Feb. 4th & 5th
Join us as we deliver Petition Signatures to Senators. They must include Monthly Stimulus Checks in the next COVID legislation.
This campaign includes multiple ways for you to participate and support the fight for Monthly Stimulus Checks:
- February 4th, In-person Events: See the map above for participating cities. Sign up to attend and help deliver change.org petition signatures to local Senate offices in the form of Past Due Invoices. Our elected leaders should have passed recurring cash legislation months ago. The people are owed.
- February 4th, Social Media campaign: People not able to deliver in-person can still participate! Print an invoice and take a photo or video and post to social media tagging your Senators and including the hashtag #MakeItMonthly. Anyone and everyone can help apply the pressure to Congress! Toolkit coming soon.
- February 5th, Make It Monthly Virtual Rally: let's celebrate together the impact of our Feb 4th Day of Action and highlight next actions people can take to keep the pressure on as Congress focuses on Stimulus legislation in February. Registration link for this event coming soon.
Event Overview:
Stephanie Bonin, a restaurant owner in Denver, had to close her business and lay off almost her entire staff twice since the pandemic started. In support of her staff, her family, and the millions of Americans who were facing the same fate, she started a Change.org petition calling for $2,000 monthly checks through the pandemic. Just this week, her petition has reached 2 million signatures, with signers coming from all 50 states and across the political spectrum. Her petition represents a movement of everyday people who need ongoing help from the government that can be counted on. Together they are calling on Congress to pass monthly relief checks.
On Thursday, February 4, organizers will deliver signatures from Stephanie Bonin’s Change.org petition in the form of overdue invoices to senators in key states. Their message is clear: people have been waiting too long for significant support from the government. Small, single payments don’t solve the massive problems people are facing.
Grassroots organizers will deliver thousands of PAST DUE invoices for $2000 to the offices of Congressional Leadership. Each invoice will have the name of a constituent who signed this petition asking Congress to include recurring cash payments to the people during COVID. Local constituents will come together to let their elected officials know that we continue to hold them accountable and that they must support the people during this pandemic.
