From "zero tolerance" to the separation of families and detention of 15,000+ children, and the blocking of ports of entry to asylum-seekers - current immigration policies are inhumane, racist and unjustified, and must be loudly rejected. Families and individuals fleeing dangerous conditions have the right to seek asylum in the U.S. In June of 2018, we rallied and marched in 60+ cities nationwide and 20+ cities worldwide to protest family separation. Since then, separations are down, but THEY ARE STILL HAPPENING along with a steady stream of other horrors. Join Immigrant Justice Now once more as we take to the streets in cities everywhere on June 29.
We demand:
Supporting legislation that fully prohibits the separation of children from their parents, regardless of immigration status, unless there has been a judicial determination that separation is in the best interests of the child;
Demanding justice for the victims of “zero tolerance” policies (including government-funded mental health care) and accountability for those responsible for family separation;
Supporting legislation that prohibits placing minors or adults in immigration detention unless there has been a judicial determination that the individual poses a risk to public health or safety and ensures the humane treatment of all detainees throughout the process of determining their status; and
Advocating for a clean DREAM Act and a clear, reasonable path to citizenship for all immigrants in the United States.
