For our entire lives, the media and political establishment have failed to cover the climate crisis like the emergency it is. This year we have an opportunity to change that.
Because tens of thousands of us raised our voices over the past 6 months, the climate crisis is a top issue in this election. That’s why hundreds of thousands of people and 16 of the leading candidates are calling for the Democrats to allow for a debate on climate change.
There’s no question that a climate debate is what the people want -- 64% of Democratic voters are in support (see here & here).
There’s no question that a climate debate is needed. The DNC promised to put climate front & center in the first Presidential debates. Instead, we got 15 minutes of answers to crappy climate questions from only a fraction of the candidates.
And yet, the DNC is still refusing to hold one. They think they can ignore our voices and our concerns.
And we’re just getting started. We have the chance to change history and make sure the climate crisis and the Green New Deal get the attention they deserve during this Presidential campaign, but we’ll only get there if the DNC feels the heat from around the country. That’s where you come in. Join an action near you demanding that the Democratic party hold a climate debate!
