Join us for the 12th Annual DRYerson Festival!

Spend a day in Ryerson Station State Park with us! Our 12th Annual DRYerson Festival will be held on Saturday, June 30th from 1:00-4:00pm at Pavilion #3. CCJ will provide the fun and food - you bring yourself, some friends, (even your dog) and enjoy!

Door prizes, music, and activities will be announced on our FB event page as we get closer to the date. Follow us there to keep up-to-date on the Festival!

The Center for Coalfield Justice has been on the leading the fight to protect Ryerson Station State Park from fossil fuel extraction since 2005. When Duke Lake was irreparably destroyed due to damage from longwall mining activity in the area, we as a community lost a recreational and aesthetic resource, as did the fish and wildlife in the area. As mining has continued in and around the Park, CCJ has worked to hold companies and regulators accountable through organizing and litigation. In 2017, we were given two major legal decisions: the first, a supersedeas decision, prevented mining under the 3L panel of Kent Run; and the second, a favorable ruling on the Permit Revision 189 appeal, made it illegal to use stream channel lining as a remediation technique. Our latest legal endeavor, while unsuccessful, would have protected Polen Run in the 5L panel; however, as we move forward, CCJ and our members will monitor this section to ensure that Consol Energy and the PA Department of Environmental Protection are held accountable for any damages to our streams. We continue to be engaged in and committed to rebuilding Ryerson Station State Park as a place where our families and friends can recreate.

We have the future of our Park to fight for and celebrate. We hope you’ll join us!
