Last summer, Congress, President Biden, and the Supreme Court cleared away final legal challenges to the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) project. They were strong-armed into this by Senator Joe Manchin, who held the country hostage during the debt ceiling increase negotiations. Since then, construction has been restarted and is progressing to planned completion this spring.

Field Conditions - Pembroke, Summer 2023

JWagner

This 303-mile long, 42" diameter steel pipe would deliver fracked fossil gas from West Virginia to the Transco pipeline in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. From there, it could also feed the MVP-Southgate extension - 50-odd-mile long extension from VA into NC. The pipeline traverses very steep, formerly pristine (before the work started many years ago) and forested lands. If put into service, it will result in continued fracking, huge methane leakage, and untold damage to the global climate. MVP was the wrong energy project back then - and it is the wrong energy project for now.

Now the project is nearing completion of construction - although some of the most challenging and onerous section still remain. The flow of fossil gas has not started yet - So We Continue to Resist!

"No MVP! Stop MVP!!"

Join 350 Charlotte, Greenfaith, and others as we declare to the Big Banks: "Stop MVP!" "MVP: Wrong Then, Now, Forever!" "No Personal Savings to Climate Destruction!" We'll take the message to Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Chase - all major financial enablers and funders of this climate-killing project.
