Join local Showing Up for Racial Justice-Twin Cities (SURJ-TC) community at the big May 1st International Workers Day Rally and March at the State Capitol! (Rally and march hosted by MIRAC and many other orgs).

Let's show up in force as a SURJ community to support the movements for labor and immigrant rights, and the rights of all workers! We the people are the workers who keep this country going; and only by working together, building a truly mass movement, will we have the power to stop the MAGA authoritarian takeover of our democracy, and put us on a better path towards collective liberation. (We want to go forward, not back!)

OUR CONTINGENT DETAILS:

• Meeting time: 4:00pm
• Meeting location: Minnesota World War II memorial at the south end of the Capitol lawn/mall (map here).
• Wear: Red and white
• Bring: water bottle, walking shoes, and you are encouraged to make a sign that says "Showing Up for Racial Justice-Twin Cities" or add "SURJ-TC" to your sign with a message about why you're showing up!
• Joining the rally and march / finding us*:
  • We will leave the war memorial spot around 4:20ish to walk north towards the steps where the speakers will be.
  • If you arrive late, we encourage you to walk to the south end of the crowd first, and then north towards the speakers until you find our contingent (look for people in red and white with SURJ signs and a "showing up for racial justice" banner!)
  • The rally starts at 4:30pm on the Capitol steps and March is scheduled to start at 5:30pm.

Why a SURJ-TC Contingent?

You could just go to the action on your own, but why not use this as an opportunity to:

• build community with other folks committed to racial and economic justice
• show the world that SURJ-TC is a home for white people working for justice and ending white supremacy
• get connected for what comes next!

*note that this will be a BIG rally; if you were at the 4/5 Hands Off rally at the Capitol, you know how hard it was to find people you were trying to meet with! So we are really hoping to meet at 4:00pm at the memorial so we can truly be together this time!
