Universal basic income (UBI) is a regular amount of cash money that would go to all citizens, enough to empower them to purchase their basic needs. With 37 million Americans falling through the holes in our safety net, and another 100 million more struggling financially, something has to be done. The solution is universal basic income - a safety floor that no American could fall beneath.

The Blueprint for a Better America, a crowdsourced legislative proposal by the American Union, would establish a UBI program of $1,300/month for adults, plus $433 for children, an amount sufficient to lift every American family above the poverty line. (This fact sheet has more details of the proposal.) In the richest country on the planet, allowing poverty to exist is a policy choice, and one that can be corrected with UBI.

The fast from September 1-4 is a fast of moral pressure, directed at the members of Congress who have the ability to enact a more humanity forward policy. It demonstrates that supporters, willingly giving up food to call attention to the solution, are not motivated by greed, but a sincere desire to see the problem of poverty addressed.

If you are willing and able to join us in abstaining from food for 72 hours over these days, please fill out this form.
