A Green New Deal for Sheffield: how our city can tackle the climate crisis

May 2021 will bring local council elections to Sheffield, which will give us the chance to elect Labour councillors who can introduce radical policies to help our city tackle the climate crisis at a local level. But what could these policies look like, and why is it the Labour party that we need to enact them?

Join Sheffield Labour for a Green New Deal and speakers from across the party to ask these questions, and more.

  • Olivia Blake - MP for Sheffield Hallam & part of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Climate Change

  • Alison Norris - Labour council candidate for Broomhill & Sharrowvale

  • Kieran Walker - Coordinator for Sheffield Labour for a Green New Deal

The speakers will introduce several ways in which a localised Green New Deal could transform our city, following this, we’ll have small discussion groups where you’ll have the chance to talk to a Labour council candidate who is passionate about tackling climate change. The session will wrap up with a chance to ask questions of the speakers.

If you’re happy to, please provide your postcode so that if possible we can organise the groups so that you can speak to the council candidate for your ward.

This event is part of a series in the run-up to the 2021 local council elections in May. To find out more about upcoming events by signing up to the Sheffield Labour for a Green New Deal mailing list, click here.
