This is a virtual event
Join us for the next DSA National Abolition WG study group. We will be talking about Accountability, Safety, and the idea of "Innocence" in Movement Spaces. Like many movement spaces, DSA sees lots of conflict. Conflict can be generative but it can also cause harm or division if it is not done productively. How do we manage conflict with accountability in our organizations? How do we deal with harms that arise from conflict when they don't rise to the level of harassment or grievance?
The reading group is open to anyone interested in political discussion and developing an analysis of these developments from an abolitionist and socialist perspective. We'll be discussing the following texts, and you can participate regardless of what you read/watch/listen to ahead of time
- "Against Innocence" by Jackie Wang
- "How Much Discomfort is the Whole World Worth?" by Kelly Hayes and Mariame Kaba
- "Section 8: Tools for Conflict Transformation" from In It Together: A Framework for Conflict Transformation In Movement-Building Groups, by Interrupting Criminalization and Dragonfly Partners
We'll be meeting virtually on Wednesday February 21 from 8-9 pm ET. It is open to anyone interested in political discussion and developing an analysis of these developments from an abolitionist and socialist perspective.
See you there!
