The Supreme Court made clear they plan to overturn Roe v Wade, which would enable most states in the country to ban the right to choose an abortion. Planned Parenthood and its allies have organized some protests, which we mobilized for, but Planned Parenthood’s message is often just “vote for Democrats,” which has proven insufficient for stopping this threat to our rights.

The Democrats currently control the White House, House, and Senate, and they failed twice to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify Roe v Wade into law. Obama promised to pass similar legislation but failed to deliver, despite having a filibuster-proof majority in Congress.

Nor have the Democrats used their powers to expand the Supreme Court to put a progressive majority on the court.

These are just some of the reasons why we need to build the socialist working-class wing of the feminist movement and attract more people to join DSA.

This meeting will discuss the fight to defend reproductive rights and also organize the next steps for our work. Ideas so far include mobilizing and preparing for more protests, a public meeting, and a fundraiser for abortion access. Invite your friends and join us!
