Considered a groundbreaking work of anti-colonial art, Battle of Algiers is a monument of the ongoing global struggle against settler colonialism. Come join us for a screening and discussion of the film on Friday, March 7th at Starr Bar in Bushwick, Brooklyn. After the screening we will discuss the film, settler colonialism and what we can learn from the Algerian liberation struggle.

When asked if he intended it to be a Marxist film, screenwriter Franco Solinas answered, "I used Marxist procedures in preparing and writing the film. So for me The Battle of Algiers is the result of those procedures: an analysis of two conflicting forces motivated by contingent rather than idealistic terms."
