Annapolis, MD Women's March
Start: Saturday, January 21, 2017•11:00 AM
End: Saturday, January 21, 2017• 1:00 PM
On Saturday, January 21, 2017, millions will gather in Washington D.C. and in hundreds of cities around the world. This is a local event for those that will be unable to travel to Washington D.C. - instead, we will march in solidarity with the Women's March on Washington here in Annapolis.
We will assemble at City Dock at 11:00 and march up Main Street to Lawyer's Mall at the State House, maintaining peacefulness and positivity. At approximately 12:00, we will have people speaking at Lawyer's Mall. We are still working on the lineup, but we definitely have state senator John Astle joining us!

FAQ:
Speakers: Our speakers will be state senator John Astle, Delegate Mark Chang, and AA County Women's Commission member Alexus Viegas.
Parking: There are multiple parking decks along Main Street and a parking lot at City Dock.
Restrooms: There are restrooms in establishments at City Dock, along the route on Main Street, and also in the State House.
Signs: Posters and signs are allowed, but we are discouraging the use of wooden sign posts and sticks. Instead, we encourage people to use cardboard sign posts. Also, in keeping with the intent of the march, we do not allow signs that disparage or insult any individuals. This is a peaceful, positive action meant to bring unity and combat divisiveness.
Attire: The weather looks to be partly cloudy and in the low 50s, so it shouldn't be too cold. We are encouraging people to wear as much purple as they can; red and blue are coming together to support human rights. This is not a partisan action.
Security: We will have law enforcement officers and volunteer marshals to help maintain a peaceful event.
Mission and Vision
We stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families - recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country. The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized, and threatened many of us - women, immigrants of all statuses, those with diverse religious faiths particularly Muslim, people who identify as LGBTQIA, Native and Indigenous people, Black and Brown people, people with disabilities, the economically impoverished and survivors of sexual assault. We are confronted with the question of how to move forward in the face of national and international concern and fear. In the spirit of democracy and honoring the champions of human rights, dignity, and justice who have come before us, we join in diversity to show our presence in numbers is too great to ignore. We call on all defenders of human rights to join us.
The Women’s March will send a bold message to our new administration on their first day in office, and to the world, that women's rights are human rights. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.
This is an INCLUSIVE march, and EVERYONE who supports the march's goals are welcome to join this peaceful gathering!
