Avelo Airlines, an ultra-low-cost commercial passenger airline, recently announced that it’ll be flying three Boeing 737s as deportation flights for ICE out of the Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona. Days later, the New Haven Immigrants Coalition launched a public campaign, viral petition, and boycott of Avelo Airlines. The campaign has gained tremendous support locally including from a majority of the New Haven City Council and the Connecticut Attorney General, and the coalition is working to strip Avelo of state and city subsidies until it cuts the contract with ICE!

   DSA has endorsed the national boycott and the International Migrant Rights Working Group is building a national coordinating structure for the over 35 DSA chapters with a presence in one of Avelo’s 55 destination cities.
