Bankstown Doorknock

Start: Sunday, April 28, 2019 1:00 PM

End: Sunday, April 28, 2019 4:00 PM

Join together with people in Western Sydney who are concerned about climate change!

We will be having conversations with the public, talking with them about climate change is affecting their community and families, and what they think our elected leaders should be doing about it.

We will be talking about the importance of climate change in the upcoming election and inviting people to attend the Student Strike on May 3.

People in Western Sydney are already feeling the heat from climate change. It will get much worse without urgent action to stop mining and burning coal and transitioning to renewable energy.

In Western Sydney we experience heatwaves about 6 to 10 degrees hotter than on the coast. Without action on climate change the number of extreme heat days (over 35’C)  in western Sydney could increase five-fold by 2090. This is not fair and puts our kids and the elderly at particular risk. Not to mention putting a huge strain on households that are already struggling with the rising costs of power.

Join us! If we stand together we can demand our local MP's take action on climate change now by stopping new fossil fuel projects, like the Adani coal mine, and having a plan to transition to renewable energy.
