Be a green councillor
Start: Saturday, July 30, 2022•10:00 AM
End: Saturday, July 30, 2022•11:30 AM
In May 2023, Brighton & Hove will elect 54 new councillors. We want to make sure that those councillors accurately represent the communities we see across the city.
Because right now - this isn't the case. There are very few councillors from a minority ethnic background and we believe that we need to do better.
We are holding this event on Saturday 30th July at 10am to talk to any people of colour in Brighton & Hove who want to find out more about being a councillor for the Green Party.
Event details
The event is an informal networking event with a chance to meet current green councillors and activists, along with hearing from two speakers about their experiences.
There will be free tea & coffee and light refreshments for all attendees and you are welcome to bring friends, children and family.
Registration is not required but helpful for us to arrange our plans. You do not need to currently be a green party member to attend this event.
Meet our speakers
Cllr Ria Patel, Equality & Diversity Spokesperson for the Green Party of England and Wales and green party councillor in Croydon
Kahina Bouhassane, Green Party candidate for Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner 2021 and upcoming candidate in the 2023 local elections.
Venue information
The event will be held at BMECP Centre in Fleet Street, Brighton.
For the safety of attendees we would encourage people if they are able to wear a mask and/or take a lateral flow test prior to attending.
