Lopes Family Farm

Come join a free in-person CAFF field day hosted by Christopher Lopes of Lopes Family Farms in Princeton, CA to learn more about the benefits of integrated organic rice and duck farming. Lopes Family Farms is a father & son partnership formed by Bruce and Christopher Lopes. This is the first integrated rice and duck farm in California, and only the second in the U.S.. Topics include: brief history of integrated rice and duck farming, building infrastructure for this regenerative practice, ecological benefits (reduced water & fertilizer use and pest management), and marketing your farms’ products.

An additional talk will be given by Claire Tauber (CAFF Farm to School Market Coordinator) on exploring current farm-to-market program opportunities, and detailing the process for small-scale farmers interested in getting their product into school markets. She will also touch on aggregation strategies for farmers wanting to expand their produce market channels through food hubs.

Details:

Coffee, water, and snacks will be provided.
