The far right have an ‘exclusive’ story of us, it is white, Christian and predominantly male. It provides an identity for some, but how do we counter this narrative with an inclusive ‘story of us’, one that celebrates the very many strands that go into making up who we are? Based on the work of Marshall Ganz, this workshop explores how the way we speak about our area, its history and culture affects the way we and others think of who ‘us’ is and who ‘the other’ is. So, how can we create a climate in which the majority of people in our area begin to tell more inclusive stories about the area and its community?
