California YIMBY Lobby Day
Start: Monday, May 14, 2018•10:00 AM
End: Monday, May 14, 2018• 6:00 PM
Calling all YIMBYs, pro-housing advocates, tenants’ rights advocates, and people opposed to rising rents!
To start the day we'll be meeting at California YIMBY HQ for a quick briefing then walking over to the Capitol where we'll be meeting with members and their staffs all day to talk to them about the bills and issues that are important to us!
We need to fight for pro-housing legislation! At the second annual YIMBY lobby day, we will be speaking to legislators and their staff about:
AB 686, which would protect the federal rules to affirmatively further fair housing
AB 2162, which streamlines the approval process for supportive housing projects across the state
And others!
Lobbying is fun, and don’t worry if you haven’t done it before. What’s important is to get your voice into the capitol so that legislators are hearing from their constituents about the importance of fighting rising rents and escalating home prices.
Please contact Louis at louis@cayimby.org if coming would be difficult financially; assistance may be available in arranging transportation from Southern California and the Bay Area. It’s crucial that our legislators hear from everyone, not just those who can afford to travel to Sacramento during a work day.
