This is the first meeting of the Capitalism and the State reading group and you are invited to join!

The Capitalism and the State Reading Group has the purpose of reading and discussing state theory and connecting it to knowledge acquired through workplace experience, organizing, and advocacy. Based in the DC area, the Reading Group hopes to draw on government workers, beneficiaries, and advocates in the region with experience interacting with the state. The group will meet ~biweekly in a virtual setting on Tuesday nights starting on August 31, with some optional in-person social events around the DMV. No experience or knowledge level is required to join.

This is open to non-DSA members but you should join DSA! The first meeting will have some discussion “The State” by Rafael Khachaturian and “The Racial State” by Michael Omi and Howard Winant but the reading is not required. Come as you are!
