Caravan for public health over for-profit prison contractors

Start: Friday, July 17, 202011:45 AM

End: Friday, July 17, 202012:45 PM

Sheriff Gore is threatening hundreds of County nurses and social workers with layoffs and proposing to contract out our jobs and put lives, safety and transparency at risk. We must act now to stop Sheriff Gore’s reckless attempt to take away County jobs and bring in for-profit contractors to the San Diego County Jails.

Let’s tell Sheriff Gore and the Board of Supervisors, SEIU Local 221 members will not allow them to take one step toward letting private contracting companies replace County workers. Protecting our sisters and brothers who are healthcare staff in the Sheriff’s department ensures that we are protecting our own jobs. We must be prepared to fight any attempt by the County to cut costs on the backs of staff and the health and safety of the communities we serve.

Bring some signs, make some noise and let Sheriff Gore and County executives know we won't allow them to sacrifice detainee and public health to the lowest bidder
