Common Cause Hawaii Discusses 2020 Hawaii State Legislative Session

Start: Saturday, January 25, 2020 2:00 PM

End: Saturday, January 25, 2020 4:00 PM

We’ll be discussing major issues at the Hawaii State Legislature, which opened January 15th, important to Common Cause Hawaii:

  • Fighting the call for an Article V Constitution Convention. An Article V Constitutional Convention would put all of our hard fought and won rights at risk, including but not limited to union, LGBTQIA+, environmental, First Nations, women’s, and voting rights.
  • Modernizing our elections through Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) legislation. AVR also benefit the implementation of Vote By Mail.
  • Promoting Campaign Finance Reform. To restore balance to our political system, reasonable, sensible campaign finance reforms need to be adopted to ensure a democracy responsive to the people.
  • Championing Ethics, Transparency, and Accountability in our Government.  When people feel as if their voices are heard and their will actually count, they will be more likely to participate in the democratic process, strengthening and protecting democracy for all.

Specific legislation will be reviewed! Come prepared to discuss how to promote good government reforms in the 2020 Hawaii Legislative Session.
