What can Utah do in the wake of recent mass shootings?

Three recent mass shootings have left America reeling once again. President Trump and congressional leaders have spoken up to support red flag laws, reviving a push for federal legislation around evidence-based policy that allows a court to order the temporary removal of firearms from a person in crisis threatening harm to themselves or others.

Utah has proposed its own red flag law, carefully developed by a wide range of stakeholders to prevent firearm suicides and other deaths, including mass shootings, while protecting Second Amendment rights.

Join our panel of experts: Chief Tom Ross (Bountiful Police Department), Kim Meyer (Suicide Prevention Coordinator, Department of Human Services), Erin Jemison (Director of Public Policy, YWCA-Utah), Brandon Roper (entrepreneur, competition shooter and conceal carry instructor) and moderator Carrie Butler (Policy Director, Action Utah).
